ACHIEVE Coaching Model
The ACHIEVE model was created in 2003. The ACHIEVE coaching model was developed by Dembkowski and Eldridge and was built on the foundations of the GROW coaching model.

The coaching cycle of the ACHIEVE model is a seven stage process. The first stage is to ‘Assess the current situation’. At this stage in the cycle the coach and coachee are building their relationship. Through active listening, the coach helps the coachee discuss their current situation, before moving on to the next stage in the coaching cycle of ‘Creative brainstorming’ where options for moving forward are discussed. The third stage is to ‘Hone the goals’ and then to ‘Initiate option generation’. The coach then helps the coachee ‘Evaluate Options’ and when the goal is determined to initiate ‘Valid action programme design’ and decide the next steps that need to be taken. Throughout the coaching cycle the coach has a role to motivate and to ‘Encourage momentum’ and commitment to achieving the goal. The balance of input from the coach and the coachee may vary throughout the different stages of the cycle.
