Coaches help coachees conform to regulations surrounding student data and privacy, through choices on products and solution providers.

ISTE explains: ‘Coaches assist educational stakeholders e.g. classroom teachers, leaders, instructional leaders, district leaders and administrative leaders as appropriate in practices that protect information and data through precautionary planning and actions, such as training to establish and maintain best practices among educators complying with state and federal regulations for protecting student data and privacy, and choosing technology products and solution providers that have robust privacy policies and security capabilities.’
General Data Protection Regulations regulate how we use, process and store data. For classroom teachers their organisation will have security in place, but using certain platforms adds another level of security. Private platforms like Teams for education are one solution. Teams has built-in security features like encryption and multi-factor authentication, and it also has user permissions and access controls for managing who can join meetings and access content. It integrates with Microsoft 365 security tools for comprehensive threat protection.
Power Apps can be accessed by linking them to Teams toolbars. Power Apps can be developed to store and display student data, but ensuring it is kept in a safe and secure environment.
